Tom Morello carries a torch for Billy Bragg

Tom Morello and Billy Bragg

The Quote from Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and The Watchman: ”Billy Bragg was a really big influence. Rage Against The Machine shared the bill with Billy Bragg on several European festivals. As a fan, I would go check him out, and I just thought it was audacious — in the middle of these festival shows where it would be Rage, Aerosmith, Sepultura, you name it, Peter Gabriel with a full band — and Billy Bragg would come out there by himself, with a guitar, and held his own. Kicked a lot of other band’s asses!”

New to Billy Bragg? Start Here: Workers Playtime is the perfect introduction to Bragg’s knack for effortlessly alternating between upbeat sing-alongs, melancholy love ballads, and political rants. She’s Got a New Spell will push your pop buttons, Little Time Bomb will pull your heart strings and Tender Comrade will, well, just make you think. The remastered version of the album shimmers with high fidelity and includes some great demos as well.
